25th Anniversary Celebrations

Saturday 20th March saw the club celebrate its 25th Anniversary, kicking off with the Mens 3rds losing to Barnes 5ths to delay tying up the league for another week. Having shown such a strong run of form earlier in the season it seems the team is now having some difficulty getting over the finishing line. This did little to dampen spirits, especially when news filtered through that their nearest rivals also lost.

Other notable results for the day included the Ladies 1sts playing away at beating Wimbledon 1A 2-1 away. The result ensured that they maintained 2nd in the league. Mens 5ths had the most convincing win of the day at home to Old Cranleighans, 6-2, a great result for the Development side who have been successfully combining youth with experience throughout the season.

Finally the Mens 1sts beat long standing rivals 4-1 at home. The result proves how far the team have come in the second half of the season, which has been mirrored by the team climbing the league to third place.

Hockey then took a back seat as the evening's festivities got underway.  Numbers grew down the club with more and more people arriving for the conclusion of the 6 Nations Rugby with England playing France.

The half time interval gave all a breather as everyone then headed outside for the fireworks display, which was, as usual, brilliantly organised by Calvin.

After the rugby the club welcomed Brendan back for the first time in 2010. Brendan immediately got the crowd singing along and ensured that a great evening was had by all.

Weary heads were then revived on the Sunday morning as large numbers turned up for the Presidents Mixed hockey match and club photo. Thanks to Robbo for taking the photo.

The Presidents game saw familiar faces take to the grass pitch, where old-school rules were replicated in the first half when the offside rule was re-introduced.

Thanks to all for attending throughout the weekend.  Special thanks should go to all those who helped with the organisation.
